Walking Eyes Wide Open
In 2019 I heard Louise Fili speak at a conference. For those who don’t know, she’s an Italian American Italophile graphic designer living in New York. She’s published books showcasing vernacular design in Italy through la grafica della strada or graphics of the street.
Thus, my inspiration was ignited. Starting in 2019 and hitting my stride in 2020 when the streets of New York went silent, I began exploring this glorious city through my iPhone camera lens. The following gallery spans from 2019 through today. Now living back in CT I only snap when I’m working in the city.
CAVEAT: I’m not a professional photographer. Simply an Italian-American woman inspired by another Italian woman to let my instincts guide my eyes.
I hope you enjoy this work. Leave me a message if you do or if you don’t :)
